This program explores how Richmond communities experienced and responded to moments of public health crisis, from the 1918 influenza pandemic to the COVID-19 era. Through newspapers, archival materials, photographs, and personal accounts, the program examines how pandemics shaped daily life, public memory, civic response, and community resilience.
The discussion will also consider how libraries, archives, and oral histories help preserve lived experiences during times of upheaval.
